GOSHRM is pleased to announce that students are able to become members of the chapter. Mentoring Program
This GOSHRM mentoring program is designed to help student participants get better acquainted with the Human Resources field. Each student is matched with an experienced HR practitioner who will provide his/her perspective on applying textbook concepts to real-life situations. Over the course of six months, mentors also provide insights to students on the value of networking and building meaningful professional relationships.
Be a Mentee!
Student Mentee Qualifications
- Is a full-time or part-time degree-seeking student, in good standing, in a related program with an accredited institution
- Is an active member of a SHRM student chapter and/or maintains national SHRM Student Membership
- Participates in student chapter events and/or GOSHRM chapter events
- Completes a mentee application
Be a Mentor!
Mentor Qualifications
- Is a member in good standing of GOSHRM with a SHRM Professional-level Membership;
- Participates in GOSHRM chapter events;
- Is employed in the Human Resources field;
- Commits to serving as a mentor for a period of six months; and,
- Completes the mentor application HERE.
Mentor Obligations
- Participate in initial Mentor Orientation meeting
- Make initial contact with student mentee within one week of assignment
- Communicate with mentee every 2-3 weeks
- Serve as a resource for knowledge and guidance in HR practices for a period of six months
- Attend at least one GOSHRM chapter meeting with mentee
- Provide at least one opportunity for mentee development (ex: job shadowing at your work location)
- Review mentee resume and offer suggestions for development or improvement
GOSHRM STUDENT MENTEE APPLICATION
